Prof. Alessia Candeo
Associate Professor
Politecnico di Milano, Italy
A Physics Engineer with a Ph.D. in Physics is presented, currently serving as a Senior Researcher at the Department of Physics of Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and as a faculty member in the School of Industrial and Information Engineering. Expertise has been primarily developed in the design of novel optical setups, the preparation of biological samples for imaging, and the construction of data-processing pipelines.
An academic background in physics and photonics was established through a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Engineering Physics. During the Master’s thesis, specialization was achieved in non-linear optics under the supervision of Prof. Cerullo. Throughout the Ph.D. program at Politecnico di Milano, the main research focus was shifted toward time-resolved spectroscopy and advanced fluorescence microscopy. In the field of spectroscopy, both inorganic and organic materials were investigated, including photocatalytic substrates and polymeric complexes for biological applications. Through fluorescence microscopy, the life sciences domain was explored.
